Surviving are husband, Carlos Salter; sons, Teddy Salter (Connie), Carl Salter, Jr. and Stuart Lee Salter; grandchildren, Abby Burdette (Chris) and Betsy Salter; three great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Derice Dehon; and two nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her infant daughter, Helen Roberta Salter; brother, Russell Dehon; and sister, Elizabeth Dehon.
Martha was a loving wife and true life time partner of Carlos of 69 years, mother and grandmother. Martha, an avid golfer, was a member of Spring Valley Country Club, Columbia Country Club, Windameer, and The University Club (Now Cobblestone Park). She was past women's club champion at Spring Valley, Windameer and the University Club on several occasions. She enjoyed most playing golf regularly with Carlos and Teddy, and, with Carlos, won many mixed team events.
Martha loved her horses, owned several, and rode several times a week. She especially enjoyed American Saddlebreds, riding competitively in shows around the Southeast, winning many blue ribbons. She was a member of the American Saddlebred Horse Association.
Martha loved the outdoors and nature with beautiful plants around her yard and porch. She loved watching the birds feed and nest in her bird houses and feeders in the backyard.
Martha was a long time member of Saint Michael and All Angels’ Episcopal Church for over 50 years.
