She was born April 17, 1927 on the original Nunamaker Land grant on the Broad River, in the Dutch Fork. She was the last of 7 children of parents Ernest Jacob and Mattie Owens Young Nunamaker. Her Dad passed when she was 5 years old and she was taken in by her Uncle Samuel Ashe and Aunt Lena Pearl Young Lindsay and she was heartbroken again when Uncle Sam died when she was 11 years old.
Besides being predeceased by her husband she was predeceased by all of her siblings and their
spouses: Glady’s Othello, infant brother, Mattie Ernestine, Mildred Young Nunamaker Long (Claude), James Arthur (Jeanette Stephens) and Ernest Jacob Jr. (Constance Kinney).
She was the proud mother of 4 sons: William Samuel Eleazer (Kim Harrell), Michael David Eleazer (Susan Pooley), Phillip Moore Eleazer (Pam Sturgeon), and Timothy Marshall Eleazer.
She was the proud Grandmother of Lacie Aldret and Stacie Sullivan, Carmen Sutheimer, Linsie Pritchard, Brittany Michelle Coker, Phillip Blake Eleazer, David Bryan Eleazer, Michael Brannon Eleazer, Sarah Claire Eleazer, and Rebecca Moore Eleazer.
She was the Great grandmother of 17 and another on the way.
And the Great, Great grandmother of 2.
She was also the proud Aunt of 9 nieces and nephews.
She was half owner of The Plant Barn, was educated at USC, worked for International Harvester and Seibels Bruce and was a faithful member of Main Street UMC in Columbia, serving the A.B. Ferguson School Class and the Women’s Circle.
Her favorite thing was loving her family and spending time with and caring for them.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Grandsons in law: David Bryan Eleazer, Michael Brannon Eleazer, Phillip Blake Eleazer, Ricky Aldret, Mitch Sutheimer and Clayton Coker.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel is handling the arrangements and her funeral will be Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Main Street United Methodist Church, in Columbia. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the Service at 2 pm. The Officiant will be Rev Cheryl Rhodes.
A special note of gratitude for the personnel of Agape Hospice Center of Columbia and the precious ladies from Right at Home, Home Health Care, Columbia, SC who loved and cared for Martha allowing her to remain in her home.
The family would also like to add a note of appreciation to her youngest son Tim, who sacrificed daily to see she was happy and well cared for. We can never express our gratitude for all he did for her.
