Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held 5:30 pm Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Dunbar Funeral Home-Devine Street Chapel with a gathering of friends and family to follow from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Inurnment at St. Joseph Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date.
Margie was born March 24, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to William Edward and Margaret Belrose Padour. Shortly after she was born Margie and her family moved to the San Fernando Valley of California, where she was raised. She was a graduate of Bishop Alemany High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Pierce College in Southern California.
When she moved to Lexington in 1972, she became an active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church where she was a member of Legion of Mary, the Corpus Christi Catholic Women’s Group and more recently The Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. In 2008, she moved to Columbia and began attending St. Joseph Catholic Church. In 2019, Margie retired from Cardinal Newman School after 28 years of service mainly focused on middle school administration. She dedicated her life to the service of others and that was shown through her willingness to always help her family, friends and colleagues.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Jennifer Smith Dearing (Chris), three granddaughters; Kaitlyn Marie Jones (Tinsley Long), Lindsay Stokes Koester (Nick), Kelsey McNair Dearing, a great-grandson; Fulton Christopher Koester, former husband; Harvey Smith and a host of cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made in Margie’s honor to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
