Margaret Thompson

CHAPIN - Margaret G. Thompson, 77, of Chapin, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013. She was born on July 13, 1936 in the Spring Branch Community of Horry County. She was the daughter of the late Clement and Cordie Grainger.

Margaret graduated from Floyds High School in 1954, and went on to earn her nursing degree in 1959 from the South Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed a 42 year career in nursing, the last 30 years with Pediatric Associates and the late Dr. C. Guy Castles Jr. She had an extraordinary memory for all her patients. During her many travels around the world she would recognize her patients and speak to them, whether on the streets of Paris, London, Rome or in the local grocery store.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years Wayne A Thompson; son, Bradley W. Thompson; daughter, Sabra L Mankin; granddaughter, Marissa Morgan (Davey); sister, Hazel Miller; brothers, Paul Grainger (Lois) and Rev. Terry Grainger ( Sue) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Haynes, and her brothers, Fred and Dwight Grainger.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday October 26, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo Chapel with entombment in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum
