Margaret Marian Peterson Adams

Marian Adams passed January 5th, 2023 after a short illness. She was born May 3rd, 1936 to Marion Francis and Josephine Frederica Peterson in Savannah, Georgia. She grew up on the Skidaway River on the Isle of Hope and this started her love affair with the marsh, beach and ocean.

Marian graduated from Blessed Sacrament School and St Vincent’s Academy. She married Robert Cave Adams in 1957, they had 3 children and moved to Columbia, South Carolina in 1970. Marian retired from the University of South Carolina Department of Health Administration where she served as the assistant to the Dean of Public Health for many years.

Marian was predeceased in death by her parents and her son Robert Christopher Adams. She is survived by her children Lynn Adams (Rick) and Brian Adams (Derinda), her brother Tommy Peterson (Brenda) and sister Betty Peterson, her grandchildren Slade Adams and Casey Sharpe (Pat) and great grandson Cal, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on January 21st. A service will be held to bury Marian’s ashes at Memorial Hillcrest East in Savannah, Georgia on February 11th at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Arthritis Foundation in her name.
