COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Margaret A. Cooper, 88, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, with a private burial in the church memorial garden. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Cooper died Thursday, August 24, 2017. Born in Winnsboro, she was the daughter of the late John and Maggie Sanders Ameen. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Sidney Broadus Cooper, Jr.
Mrs. Cooper graduated from Great Falls High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Winthrop University. She was associated with the city schools and Donaldson Air Force base in Greenville. She taught school in Anderson and Richland counties. Her character exemplified her love of the Lord and her family. She was a volunteer at God's Storehouse for over 2 decades, receiving both Volunteer of The Year and Lifetime Volunteer awards. She was active in Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, participating in the choir and Women's Circle. Mrs. Cooper was an avid rose gardener and loved all of God's creatures, especially birds.
Surviving are sons, Robert Cooper (Belle Mead) of Chapin and David Cooper (Shirley) of Columbia; grandsons, Robert and Paul Cooper; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers John Ameen, Dr. Saied Ameen, and Dr. William Robert Ameen; and sisters Mary Monson and Helen Cleaver.
