Mamie Boyle Pruet Taylor, age 63, passed away on July 30, 2020 in Blythewood, SC. Mamie was born in Columbia, SC to Gene V. Pruet and Ann B. Pruet on March 13, 1957. She is preceded in death by her mother Ann, father Gene, and brother Earl. She is survived by her son Mike Taylor and his wife Brie, of Dover, NH; daughter Lindsay Taylor, of Columbia, SC; and son Bo Taylor, his wife Valery, and their daughter Melanie (Mamie’s granddaughter), of Columbia, SC; her sister Margaret Brewer, of Greenville, SC; and her nieces and nephews.
Mamie graduated from Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC, and attended Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, where she graduated Valedictorian of her class from the Business School. She enjoyed a long career in information systems and software development, holding multiple positions including Systems Analyst, Project Manager, and Senior Developer.
One of Mamie’s gifts, as recounted by dear friends, was her dry sense of humor which could bring laughter and smiles in an instant. Her most admirable trait was that she stood up for what she believed in and did not hold back on sharing her opinion.
Above all, Mamie loved nothing more than being a devoted mother to her three children. She was a passionate animal lover, particularly her beloved pet Labrador Retrievers Max and Jackson and was also an equestrian enthusiast. While she had not ridden horses in many years she loved talking about horses, especially during the weeks of the Triple Crown horse races every year. One of her favorite places to spend time was at the beach on Pawley’s Island, SC, where she had been going from a young age and continued to share with her family as an adult.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be private for family. In lieu of flowers, please make any charitable donations to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation (https://www.diabetesresearch.org/Give).
