COLUMBIA - Lucile W. Green, 86, went home to be with the Lord and her husband, the late William Henry DesChamps Green on Thursday, January 11, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St. Martins-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Lucile was born August 2, 1931 in Queens, N.Y., the daughter of Charles Hampton Webb, Sr. and Anna Schuchart Webb. In her late teens, her family settled in Columbia, where she was married. At age 35, she became a widow and began her career at Bellsouth as the Fire and Life Safety Coordinator for S.C. and N.C. regions. She will be remembered as the most courageous mother in the sight of her children, for her devotion to her faith and her friendly disposition. Lucile was an equestrian, a Girl Scout troop leader, an early member of St. Martins-in-the-Fields, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of "The Daughters of the King". The job she loved the most was being a greeter every Sunday for almost 50 years. Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne and husband, Rodgers H. West Jr.; son, Kevin William Webb Green; two grandsons, Bradford DesChamps West, Scott Anderson West; a nephew, Steve M. Flowers; cousin, Laura W. Dennison; multiple extended family members whom she loved; special friends, Danny Holland, George Dollard, Mildred Davis, Sara Mantell and Frances Tupper.
