Lois Erickson Hamilton

COLUMBIA A memorial service for Lois Erickson Hamilton, 87, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Hamilton died Friday, April 10, 2015. Born in Chicago, IL., she was the daughter of the late George S. and Hazel Johnson Erickson. She graduated from the University of Chicago and later met her husband in 1948 at a church play. While her husband was stationed in Germany, she taught kindergarten in the early 1950’s. A member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church since 1963, she served as deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, and chairwoman of the preschool. Mrs. Hamilton also taught kindergarten at Forest Lake Presbyterian, Shandon Presbyterian, and USC. She also was devoted to her garden which she cared for over many years. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Albert “Al” Hamilton; daughter, Barbara Winkles (Dennis) of Denver, N.C., two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Lake Presbyterian Church Organ Restoration Fund, 6500 N.
