Joe was born June 29, 1952 in Salisbury, North Carolina to the late Leslie "Buck" Watson, Jr and the late Mildred Mills Watson.
Joe was a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in business management. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and formed many lasting friendships during those years. Following graduation, he was a bank examiner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) for several decades. After he retired from the FDIC, he established his own consulting firm in 2011, ALLL Solutions, and retired for the second time in 2023. Joe was an avid golfer and a long-term member of the Woodlands Country Club. He was proud to have made three holes-in-one and was always happiest out on the golf course.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Lynn Felton Watson, their daughter Christian (Christy) Watson Hancock, her husband Robert Hancock, and his treasured granddaughter, Katherine (Kate) Hancock. He is also survived by his two loving sisters and their families: his older sister, Teri Watson McKinney, her husband Foster McKinney and their children, Shawn McKinney and Patrick McKinney, and his younger sister, Kimberly (Kim) Watson Likins, her husband Steve Likins, and their children, Dr. Ben Likins and Alex Likins.
Joe was a man of quiet and solid faith in God. It was his lifelong mission to provide acts of kindness and support to the less fortunate. He was true follower of the teachings in Matthew 6:3 (NIV).
Contributions in Joe's memory may be made to Christian Assistance Bridge, 126 Blythewood Road, Blythewood, South Carolina 29016 US; and Spring Valley Presbyterian Memorial Garden, 125 Sparkleberry Lane, Columbia, South Carolina 29229.
