Leola Harper Hucks

Funeral service for Leola H. Hucks, 83, will be conducted at 2 o’clock on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dr. R. L. Brown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Hucks passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016. Born in Conway, she was a daughter of the late John C. Hucks and Ida Lucille Herring Hucks. She was the wife of the late Belvin Thain Kennedy. Mrs. Hucks was a 1950 graduate of Conway High School. She worked at Bonitz Insulation for 14 years and retired following 20 years of service from Consolidated Systems, Inc. as Steel Shipping Manager. Mrs. Hucks was a member of Rosewood Baptist Church and active in “Young at Heart.” She was a member of the VFW Post 641 and the Ladies Auxillary. Surviving are her son John A. “Tony” Harper (Beverly); stepson Paul Kennedy (Olivia); stepdaughters, Laurie Coates (Rick) and Dianne Kennedy (Bruce Coker); six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Joan Harriet Hucks Hilburn; brothers, Robert Hoyt Hucks, Marion Clarence Hucks (Margaret Jordan Hucks); sister-in-law Earlene Margaret Hucks; her special “sister like cousin” Floride Woodle (Robert); her special friend, Delphine Bigony; and her two beloved fur babies, Lilly and Precious.
