Leesa, third of four children grew up in a busy, boisterous household with all the family members contributing to the landscape that was their dot. The family loved and protected her and maybe spoiled her just a little. She was mentally challenged but she had no problems remembering things. She could tell you the way to go to deliver Meals on Wheels with a friend, a birthday celebration, especially hers, and reminded the family of events of the past as well. She cleverly knew how to get things that she wanted and with the innocence of a child would ask for them.
Leesa was a member of the PAD (People are Dandy) Club which was an important part of her life. The club members are like minded men and women who meet monthly to share a meal and their stories of their lives, entertainment and accomplishments achieved over the past month at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. They would go on outings and going out to eat was especially enjoyable for all. Leesa was friends to all people though occasionally if someone treated her unkindly, she would fuss about it.
Leesa loved her church family and always had a smile waiting for each and everyone of them. Smiling is something that she did, and it brought joy to all who met her. She loved to attend Garden Club meetings with her mother and going to do some shopping with the money that her Daddy gave her made her feel so special. She was a good listener and wanted to be in the room and hear what everyone had to say when they visited. Leesa represented the good in people, neighbors, friends and all who met her.
For the past 5 years Leesa had a 3-pound chihuahua named “Fella” (short for little fella) who was her constant companion. He was with her night and day where he slept quietly always being in contact with her and he did as she left this world.
Leesa leaves behind her mother, Shirley H. Smith; siblings, W. Philip Smith (Patty), Holly S. Anderson, Scott E. Smith; her niece, Melissa S. Anderson; two nephews, Matthew J. Anderson and Tyler E. Anderson (Bess); two great nieces, Brooke N. Anderson, Molly B. Anderson; and one great nephew, Whitley E. Anderson.
We all say together, Thanks be to God for Leesa Sue Smith.
