Laura Ann Bussey

May 7, 1959 – December 14, 2023
Obituary of Laura Ann Bussey
IN THE CARE OF

Dunbar Funeral Home - Northeast

From a beautiful spring day in NY until a dark December day in SC Laura "Buzzi" Bussey shared smiles, joy, love, and laughter with countless people, and warmed the hearts of everyone she knew.

Buzzi was an Army veteran, and she spent numerous years poking posies as a long time florist In the Columbia area. Buzzi loved to shoot pool, and she was quite the softball player during her misspent youth. Buzzi loved being at the beach, she loved dancing. No one did the electric slide better than her (well, perhaps Chica Meeka did). She wasn't happy unless she was outside working in the yard, fingers in the dirt, planting one thing or another. She enjoyed helping people with their yard work or minor tasks around their home. She was always willing to step up and help her friends. Of course we all know her favorite pastime was riding that zero turn radius mower and making the yard look beautiful.

She is survived by her spouse, Mary Bumpas; her brother Michael, brother in law Ted, sister in law Janice, Niece Kerry (James) Morgan, great nephew Maverick Morgan; Nephew Danny (Tara) Engle; great niece Madeline; granddaughters Savannah and Jasmine; fur kids Henery, Scrappy, Rufus, and Matty; As well as countless family by choice - too many to mention.

Buzzi's loved ones who have gone on before her are, her mother Madeline (from whom she got her green thumb), her sister Denise, from whom she got her "never met a stranger" attitude; younger brother, Andrew; her father, Wesley; Dear friend Rusty; furkids, Bud, Ozzie, Sammi, Ripley, Jaxon, Stalker, Ebony, and Murphy.

Next time you pop open beer, or smell the aroma of fresh cut grass, or see a beautiful flower arrangement, think of Buzzi and smile. She's somewhere with her earphones on, jamming to her tunes, riding her mower with a cold beer, enjoying the outdoors.

In lieu of flowers (because we all know she'd just be somewhere judging them anyway) please make a donation to your favorite charity in her name, or plant something to make the world a more beautiful place or simply do something inner honor to help out a friend. That is the Buzzy way.

A celebration of life will be held for Buzzi after the holidays.
