Mrs. Laudine Summer Shirley

COLUMBIA Funeral service for Laudine Summer Shirley, 89, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at North Trenholm Baptist Church, with burial in Greenhaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mrs. Shirley died Saturday, October 25, 2014. Born June 25, 1925, in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Stanley Summer and Gertrude Estelle Martin Summer. She was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church and the Anderson Quattlebaum Sunday School class. She was known as the beloved cookie lady at the church. In addition to being a homemaker, she previously worked at Belk Department Store. She was a former member of Primrose Garden Club and enjoyed gardening and decorating. She leaves behind two sons, Paul Donnel Shirley and James Oscar Shirley; a daughter, Deidra Shirley; granddaughter, Alice Shirley Craft and her husband, Clayton; a sister, Sarah Oliver of Anniston, Ala.; many nieces and nephews; and a granddog, Schnitzel. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Shirley Jr.; daughter-in-law, Iris C. Shirley; and a sister, Frances Bowen.
