Born in 1932 in the city of Hue, Vietnam. Lan was a broadcaster and producer for a radio station “Dai Phat Thanh”, and she worked there for much of her life in Vietnam. She was the most famous broadcaster in the country of Vietnam.
Lan was long-time member of the St. John Neumann Catholic Church and Vietnamese Catholic Community.
Lan is survived by her children, Linh H. Nguyen of Columbia, Khanh Q. Nguyen of Columbia, and Khue D. Nguyen of Columbia; brother, Lap Quang Hong of California; sisters, Thu Minh Hong of California, and Hue Phuong Hong of Vietnam; sister-in-law, Tuyetmai Nguyen; brother-in-law, Tu Ngoc Pham of California; sister-in-law, HoangAnh Hoang of California; two daughters-in-law, Lien H. Le of Virginia, and Kora Nguyen of Columbia; son-in-law, Long Nguyen of Columbia; two granddaughters, Quynh Roberts of Virginia, and Michelle Long of North Carolina; two grandsons-in law, Chris Long of North Carolina, and David Roberts of Virginia; three grandsons, Charlie Nguyen of Alabama, Kirk Nguyen of Columbia, and Khoi Nguyen of South Carolina; granddaughter, Maivi Nguyen of California; two great grandsons; Everett K. Long of North Carolina, and Winfred Roberts of Virginia; great granddaughter, Lillian Frances Page Roberts of Virginia. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Khiem D. Nguyen.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Dunbar Funeral Home – Northeast on Wednesday, March 30th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., religious music and prayers will follow from 7:30 - 8:00 p.m., with visitation from 8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
A Memorial Mass for Lan T. Phuong Hong, 90, will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31st, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in the church columbarium.
