Katherine Cathcart McCaskill

COLUMBIA - A Memorial Services for Katherine Stewart Cathcart McCaskill, 100 years old, widow of Robert James McCaskill, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Mrs. McCaskill died Thursday, July 17, 2014. The daughter of the late James Armstrong Cathcart and Ann Sloan Cathcart, she was born in Columbia, S.C., January 2, 1914. Educated in the Columbia public schools, she graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1934. She was for many years a substitute teacher in the Columbia Public Schools and was a distributor of Luzier Cosmetics. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the Junior League, the Assembly Ball, Forest Lake Club, the Junior League Reading Club and the Current Literature Club. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Katherine McCaskill Hepfer and Richard George Hepfer; granddaughter, Katherine Sloan Hepfer Ware (Patrick); grandson, Richard Glenn Hepfer; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Beverley Cathcart Todd, Ann Cathcart Fersner; and brothers, James Armstrong Cathcart, John Sloan Cathcart, William Richard Cathcart. Memorials may be made to Trinity Cathedral, Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community, Salvation Army, Carolina Children’s Home, York Place or a charity of one’s choice.
