Katherine Littleton Cates

Mrs. Cates died Thursday, July 27, 2023. She was born August 2, 1927, in Winston Salem, N.C. She was a daughter of the late James E Littleton and Maybelle Mauldin Littleton. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Kitty was very passionate about her family at home as well as her family at church. As a member of Woodfield Park Baptist Church for over fifty years, she enjoyed singing in the choir, leading both children and adult bible studies and participated in many events that helped further the growth of the church. She was a member of Women on Mission, the Friendship and Ruth Sunday School Classes, all while humbly serving the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Cates, Jr.; two brothers, James E. Littleton, Jr., Charles W. Littleton; and a sister, Loraine Littleton. Surviving are two sons, Bob Cates (Cathy), Ronnie Cates (Patricia); a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodfield Park Baptist Church’s Benevolent Fund or Women on Mission to help the Columbia Homeless at Morning Glory Lane, Columbia, South Carolina 29223.
