Joyce Enright Varn

Joyce Enright Varn, 90, entered into the presence of our Lord on April 6, 2022. Born September 17, 1931 in Athens, GA, Joyce was the daughter of the late Rex Enright, former Head Football Coach and Athletic Director of the University of South Carolina, and Alice Thorne Enright. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and high school sweetheart of 56 years, Harry P. Varn, her parents Rex and Alice Enright, and sister Jean Smith. She attended Converse College and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA in English. Joyce was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Columbia, SC. She was a warm and loving person who adored her family, treasured her many friends, and delighted in the happiness of others. She loved life and always went out of her way to make people feel special. She loved the Lord and was a blessing to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Debbie and Al Carter, of Columbia, SC, Harry and Margaret Varn, Jr of Hickory, NC, Rex and Kathy Varn of Sugar Land, TX, and Guy and Kathy Varn of Fort Mill, SC, 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one sister, Alice Enright of Atlanta, GA.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home on 3926 Devine Street with a reception immediately following.
