Eddie Nash, beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023. Born in Macon, Georgia on July 2, 1955, he was the oldest son of Joseph Edward Nash, Sr. and Mary Gordon Burgess (Snookie) Nash. He was married to Sally Anne McMaster Nash for the past 30 years. Eddie spent his early elementary school years growing up in Cheraw, SC until the family moved to Irmo, SC. He graduated from Irmo High School where he was a member of the football and baseball teams. He attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC and later transferred to the University of South Carolina where he received a BS degree in business administration. While attending the university, Eddie was inducted into the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Following his college graduation, Eddie began a long career in information systems and services technology working in several insurance and insurance software companies including BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, Policy Management Systems Corporation, and Computer Sciences Corporation from which he retired in 2012.
Eddie had many passions and was a champion at many of them. He was an avid hunter with a zealous interest in wildlife and almost any outdoor activity. Whether it was skiing or boating on Lake Murray, spending long hours in the fields and forests of his hunting club, or hiking and camping in the mountains with his family and friends, Eddie’s love for the outdoors brought out the happy free spirit that defined him. He also loved golfing with friends but was never quite satisfied with his play regardless of the result of the round. When not outside, Eddie could reliably be found in the kitchen cooking up his favorite foods and experimenting with new recipes. His lavish breakfasts were the highlights of so many weekend getaways with groups of family and friends.
Eddie embraced life with enthusiasm. His abundance of close friends was ample evidence of the loyalty and generosity he brought to those who shared a close connection with him. When you think of Eddie, celebrate the good memories you have of him. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest, just as Eddie lived his own life.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Sally, he is survived by his two sons, Joseph Matthew Nash and Chadwick Jacob Nash (Erin), and by his grandson, Chadwick Jackson Nash, all of Kenly, NC; brothers, Timothy Gordon Nash of Hendersonville, NC, and Stephen Coy Nash (Suzanne) of Columbia; sister, Mary Jo Nash Ebo (Kenneth) of Fort Worth, TX; nephews, Joseph Colby Nash, Lucas Coy Nash, Kenneth Gerald Ebo, III, and Creighton Cox McMaster; nieces, Samantha Lee Nash, IsabellaGrace Nash Ebo, Ashleigh Adelaide McMaster, and Sally Anne McMaster Andrew.
