RALEIGH, N.C. - A funeral service for Jonathan David “J.D.” Burkhardt, 29, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Crossings Community Church in Columbia, S.C. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, Columbia, is assisting the family. Jonathan passed into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Born on October 10, 1987 in Karlsruhe, West Germany, he was the son of David Edward Burkhardt and Jenel Milligan Burkhardt. He was a graduate of Green Hope High School in Cary, N.C. In addition to his parents, surviving are his sisters, Jamie Lynne Pepin (Matt) of Charleston and Kendra Marie Burkhardt of Central, S.C.; niece, Emma Pepin; maternal grandmother, Effie Ruth Milligan of Charlotte, N.C.; paternal grandparents, Dr. Edward and Nancy Burkhardt of Huntington, W.Va.; uncle, Jim Burkhardt (Lisa) of Lexington, Ky.; aunt, Janis Klimovich (John) of Charlotte; and cousins, Andrew, Caroline, Samuel and Emerie. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Herbert Milligan.
