John David Bryant

John David Bryant, “DB” to his friends, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Born in Winnsboro, he was the son of the late Billy Ray Bryant and Elma Branham Bryant. He was a graduate of Winnsboro High School and studied engineering at the University of South Carolina before making music his full time profession.

DB was a long time member of the South Carolina music scene. During the course of his music career, he performed and recorded with many talented musicians and bands. He played many festivals and venues throughout the state and across the country.

DB was a man of strong faith, a devoted husband, proud father and adoring Pop to his 2 grandchildren. He enjoyed writing music and riding motorcycles. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Tina High Bryant; daughter, Brittany Dixon (Robert); grandchildren, Carver and Evelyn Dixon; brother, Bill D. “Willie” Bryant; nephew, Ian W. Bryant and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
