COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Rev. Jerry Price Alexander, 83, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, with visitation following in Potts Hall. Private burial of ashes will take place at a later date. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Rev. Alexander died Saturday, February 18, 2017. Born in Charlotte, N.C., he was a son of the late Marshall Graham and Margaret Price Alexander. A graduate of Erskine Seminary in 1960, he served a number of churches throughout the Southeast. He served as Director of Clinical Counseling, Pastoral Education and Student Supervision at Columbia Area Mental Health Center. Later, he supervised pastoral students at Baptist Medical Center. Most recently, he served as an Associate Minister at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed traveling, especially his annual family trip to the beach, and he was often seen driving his convertible with the top down in all seasons. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on the back porch listening to the waterfall. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Crouch Alexander; son, Derrick Alexander of South Congaree; daughters, Melanie Amick (David) of West Columbia, Crystal Tapp (Clayton) of Columbia, DeLisa Edwards of Columbia, Camille Asmer (Pete) of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Dorothy Frisch of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Jason Wingard, Christopher Alexander, Daniel Alexander, Megan Bennett, Kelly Todd, Colby Edwards, Kyle Edwards, Peter Asmer, Dabney Asmer, Jacob Asmer; and five great- grandchildren.
