Jeanne Scott Joyce

COLUMBIA – Jeanne Scott Joyce died Monday, August 7, 2017. She was the loving and devoted wife of Curtis Joyce for 65 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson Scott and Bland Ridgway Scott and grandson, Curt Joyce. Left to cherish her memory and pass on her memories are her children, Jim (Linda), Pam Smith (Guy), Tom (Susan); her sister in love, Donna Curry (Carl); 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Joyce was a President of the St. Andrews Woman’s Club where she was instrumental in the establishment of the St. Andrews Library, the St. Andrews Community Center, and the St. Andrews Swim Club. She served as President of St. Andrews Elementary PTA, President of St. Andrews Junior High PTA, President of Riverside Garden Club, Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie Leader, youth softball coach and youth basketball coach. She was an avid bowler, played women’s softball and was a member of numerous bridge clubs.

She was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church (formerly Broad River Baptist Church) for 59 years where she served as President of the WMU, Principal of Vacation Bible School, Sunday School Teacher and Training Union Teacher. She also served as a member of the visitation committee, the pulpit committee, the nominating committee, and the fundraising (new church) committee. She was a member of the Mary and Martha Sunday School Class.

Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 with Dr. Ronald “Dee” Vaughan, pastor, St. Andrews Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. in the atrium at the church prior to the funeral service. Graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery.
