Jean Brogdon McKenzie

COLUMBIA - Jean Brogdon McKenzie, wife of the late Michael Fuller McKenzie, died July 23, 2024 at the age of 81. Born in Sumter, SC she was the daughter of Julius Leon Brogdon, Jr. and Sarah Richardson Brogdon. Jean received her education from the Sumter schools, Columbia College and Clevenger Business College where she made many lifelong friends. She worked in banking and was an accomplished artist. She was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home - Devine Street Chapel. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, September 27th at 10:00 am at Evergreen Memorial Park at 802 N. Guignard St, Sumter SC 29150.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Paula Richbourg (Chris) Adams of Franklin, TN. Grandchildren: Hope Davis, Brendan Davis (Ericka), Katherine Adams, José Adams, and Angela Adams. Great grandchildren: Skyler Timothy, Tristan Lanford, Sarah Davis, Murphy Davis and Grey Davis. She was predeceased by her daughter, Julia “Julie” Richbourg Davis.

Jean never met a stranger. She dearly loved her God, her family and her friends.

Jean had a special place in her heart for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Sister Care Inc. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Jean's honor.
