COLUMBIA - Jane Quinn West, 61, wife of Donald Patrick West of Columbia, S.C., died Tuesday, August 4th. Jane was born in Georgetown, S.C., on January 28, 1954, the daughter of Dr. Robert and Mary Bull Quinn. She grew up in Georgetown and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1976. Jane and Don met in Five Points and recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. Jane was a hard worker and loved working at The Second Level and Yesterday’s. After 26 years and several ownership and name changes, she was Assistant Branch Manager for IPFS at the time of her death. Jane loved Carolina and the Gamecocks. Having played in high school, basketball was her favorite, and she loved the Tip Off Club. Even the dogs knew Jane was going to be sleepy come tournament time. Jane saw the Cocks play in every SEC football stadium except A&M, and saw victories in most. She was also in The Big House in Ann Arbor for the Gamecocks victory over Michigan in 1980. The beach was her true passion, Pawley’s as a child and Edisto for the last 20 years. Her ashes will be scattered at Edisto along with half of the hundreds of shark’s teeth she and Don found there over the years. Jane was one of five children. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert “Rob” Quinn. She is survived by sisters, Lucia Martin and Mary Jansen; and a brother, Bill Quinn. She is also survived by four nieces, two nephews, and their families. Her ready smile and lively sense of humor made her a favorite with family and friends, and Jane will be sorely missed by her husband and family, but also by her many friends, coworkers and acquaintances. The family would like to extend special thanks to the SC Oncology Association, Palmetto Health, Lexington Medical Center and Southeastern Family Practice. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the SCOA Cares Foundation, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
