Jane Russo

COLUMBIA- Mrs. Jane Scruggs Russo, age 91 of Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. She was born October 21, 1921 in Dentsville, SC. Jane was the daughter of the late Sanford and Salli Moorer Scruggs.

She was a very astute business woman and for many years was an owner of Physicians Clinical Laboratory of Columbia, SC, which through several mergers and acquisitions became a part of the present Laboratory Corporation of America (Labcorp).

Jane is survived by two children, son, Sanford “Sonny” Koon (Sara) and daughter, Salli Childress Hoffman; six grandchildren, Carrie Jones (Steve), Michael Hoffman, Kenny Hoffman, Desiree Koon Edwards (Kelly), Wendy Koon Weaks (James) and Mindy Koon; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Michael T. Russo and a granddaughter, Cindy M. Koon.

A memorial service for Jane will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29212. The Rev. Vickie Powell will be presiding. The family will receive friends following the service.

The family thanks all the caregivers that provided loving care to Jane during her long illness.
