Mrs. Friedman died Sunday, November 20, 2022. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 12, 1956, and she spent her early years there. Her family later moved to Birmingham, Alabama and then to Atlanta, Georgia. Jane attended Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri, and then received a degree in English from Ohio State. She returned to Birmingham and went on to acquire an Accounting degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
She married her beloved husband Sam in 1987 and the couple had their first child, Alexandra (Alex) in 1988. They moved to Columbia, South Carolina, in 1990 and their son Jonathan was born in 1994. Jane loved her family dearly, and was intensely proud of her children’s accomplishments.
Jane loved to travel and experience new things. She was particularly fond of wildlife, and she and Sam were able to make several trips that allowed them to view many and varied species of exotic animals. She was a tremendous supporter of the Riverbanks Zoo.
Jane is survived by her husband, Dr. Samuel Friedman, her daughter, Dr. Alex Friedman Peahl (Cameron), her grandson, Charles Jonathan Peahl, and her son Jonathan, as well as her brother, John Breyer, Jr. (Elizabeth) of McLean, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marion Breyer, of Birmingham, Alabama, and her grandparents, Mortimer and Josephine Cohen of Montgomery, Alabama, and Maurice and Hazel Breyer, of Kansas City, Missouri.
The family wishes to thank Drs. Mohamed El Geneidy, Ezra Riber, and Jimmy Herman, the staff of South Carolina Oncology, as well as her hospice team.
