LAVONIA, GA - A graveside service for James Edward Pearson, 86, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Pearson died Saturday, January 23, 2021. Born in Marietta, GA, he was a son of the late Joseph Clinton Pearson and Eva Rutherford Pearson Wright. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserves and also served for 3 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a MSG in the U.S. Army and served from 1952 until retiring in 1995. He loved to fish and in his younger years, he played basketball and baseball. He spent many vacations camping with his family on the West Coast. In his final years, he enjoyed many happy times with his brother.
Surviving are his daughters, Shelley Lee Kwiatkowski, Tamara Dildine, and Jill Lopes; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin Wright (Candida) and Marvin Wright (Diane); sister, Vera “Peggy” Fulbright; nieces, Karen Carter (Jeff), Rhonda Bell (Larry) and Eva Simcox (Dave); and nephews, Gary T. Wright and Eddie Wright (Becky).
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Darlene La Belle Pearson.
