COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Jackie Arthurlyn Brantley, 99, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service and briefly following the service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Brantley died Sunday, January 31, 2021. Born in Wagener, SC she was a daughter of the late Carl Dewey Cooke and Mollie Swartz Cooke. A graduate of Columbia Hospital Nursing School, Class of 1941, she served as a dental assistant at Fort Jackson during WWII. A housewife and mother of four, she was active in her children’s activities while working as a recovery room nurse at Richland Memorial Hospital. Until recently, she was an active member of The Trenholm Art Guild and she also volunteered at the State Fair in the Arts Exhibits. She was a member of the Sherwood Forest ARP Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her sons, Dr. B. Alton Brantley, MD PhD (Ingrid P. Brantley, MD) of Davidsonville, MD, Thomas D. Brantley (Patricia S.) of Columbia, SC, and David E. Brantley (Joan W.) of West Columbia, SC; daughter, Jacqueline “Susie” Busbee (Rod L.) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Kirsten Feiereisel, MD (Mike), Daren Brantley (Lillian), Heather B. Stallworth (Tommy), Thomas S. Brantley (Elizabeth), Cheryl B. Hale (Brendan), Brantley D. Busbee, MD (Brooke), and Melissa B. Logue (Kyle); and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bert A. Brantley, grandson, William E. Busbee, and great-grandson, Edwin Busbee.
