Gregg Russo was a cycle breaker who loved his family dearly. He had niche taste in music he would talk about for hours, especially Frank Sinatra. He was always on a quest to find the perfect replica of Bing Crosby's Merchant Service pipe (he had it 50 times over but wasn't convinced) and he would fill them with Crooner tobacco. He loved food, especially authentic Italian pastas and recreating presidential chili recipes. An avid reader, he felt and thought deeply about life. He was politically active, intellectually curious, and while reserved in person, cared deeply for others. He was an amazing dad to his daughters and an amazing granddad to his granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his dear grandmother Mary Catherine Russo, brother Gary Lee Russo, and his dog Stella. He is survived by his daughters Gina Marie Bacon (Craig E. Bacon), Elyssa Leah Russo Lees (David A. Lees), and his beloved granddaughter Ellesandra, with whom he spent many hours on the floor playing delightful games of pretend. Just like he had done with his daughters when they were little.
A private memorial service will be held for family only.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Gregg’s memory, please read a good mystery book or listen to your favorite music, and talk about it with your family. Even if they don't want to hear you talk about it. Especially if they don't want to hear you talk about it.
“The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?
Answer.
That you are here—that life exists and identity,
That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.”
-Walt Whitman
