COLUMBIA - Surrounded by the love of her family, Evelyn Charpia Eidson, 90, went peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Born in Beaufort, SC, she was a daughter of the late Matthew Jackson Charpia, Sr. and Blanche Nettles Charpia. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and often attended Asbury United Methodist Church. She retired in 1997 from SCE&G after many years of service.
In her early years of marriage, Evelyn loved living on Fripp Island with her husband Ben, where she spent years enjoying friends, the beach, oyster roasts, playing golf and providing their children with the unique experience of growing up on an undeveloped pristine barrier island.
After they relocated to Columbia, Evelyn enjoyed raising their children, boating on Lake Murray, attending Carolina football games, playing bingo, gardening and hosting/attending local and national family reunions, all while maintaining a meaningful career.
Surviving are her son, Russell Allen Eidson and his wife Jeannie, daughter, Pamela Eidson Price and her husband Bobby, both of Columbia, SC and her much treasured grandsons, Robert Howell Price IV of Charlotte, NC and Benjamin Eugene Eidson of Boston, MA. Also cherished by her are a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Joan Charpia of Charleston, SC; a brother-in-law, Donald Stalvey of Greenville, SC and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Benjamin Allen Eidson; her brother, Matthew Jackson Charpia Jr. and his wife, Louise; her older sister, Louise Stalvey and her younger sister, Virginia Lewis and her husband, John.
A funeral service for Evelyn will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2022, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the home of Pam and Bobby Price from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
