Emma Jean Brannum Corbitt was primarily a homemaker but also worked a few years at Bankers Trust (now Deutsche Bank) and in the Richland County School District. She enjoyed gospel music, cooking and family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband, Errie Corbitt; four wonderful children, Vernon Corbitt (Laurietta), Gerald Corbitt (Cathy), Sandra Corbitt McGill (Raymond), and Craig Corbitt (Jacqueline); 8 grandchildren, Santana Corbitt, O’Cashus Corbitt, Destiny Foulks, Jykosha Corbitt, Gerald Corbitt, II, Paris McGill, Nyla McGill, and Hunter Corbitt; along with 14 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Fran Cenia Collington Martin, Rose Brannum, Louis Brannum, George Brannum, and James K. Washington, and by her sisters-in-law, Nissie Washington, and Shelia Brannum.
A Funeral Service will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch-Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063, on Saturday July 8, 2023, at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Dunbar Funeral Home. A Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Memorial Gardens, 501 Elmwood Ave, Columbia, SC 29203. Elmwood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
