Ellen Wilson Stokes

COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Ellen Wilson Stokes, 83, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Mrs. Stokes passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Born in Mullins, SC, she was a daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Jo Dozier Wilson. She retired from the University of South Carolina with over 20 years of service.

Surviving are her husband, Carl Bernard “Pete” Stokes; son, Keith Stokes (Candy); daughter, Pamela Stokes Abdullah (Duece); daughter-in-law, Keli Stokes; five grandchildren, Carl W. Stokes II, Alston Stokes, Kristen Stokes, Marley Stokes, and Yazeed Abdullah; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Libby Smith and Vivian Johnson; and brother-in-law, Jerome Wise.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Carl Wilson Stokes, her grandson Preston Scoggins, her sister Margie Wise, and her brothers-in-law, Jerrel Smith and Jimmy Johnson.
