COLUMBIA - Elizabeth F. Reynolds, 98, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 22, 2020. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel with entombment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Reynolds was born August 1, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Ottokar and Irva Nottingham Baessler. She was a very active member of the Red Hat Society and was a Civil Servant for 21 years, serving at multiple locations including, Fort Jackson, S.C., Salisbury, N.C. and Durham, N.C.
Elizabeth will be best remembered by her strong will of which her family fondly calls ‘her feisty personality.’ She knew what she liked and made sure those around her knew it, too. She walked a fine line between stubbornness and independence which served her well to see the ripe age of ninety-eight. Yet, she never met a stranger in all those years. Always apt to talk and know people, her generosity extended beyond her family. She enjoyed helping others in whatever way she could. Her love for her family was dearly evident in the way she spoke of them and treated them each passing year.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Edward H. Reynolds, Sr. and three sisters, Agnes Esquilla, Doris Payne, Ruth Washburn. Survivors include her children, Edward H. Reynolds, Jr. (Barbara), Dale M. Reynolds and Elizabeth Nannette Reynolds Campbell (William); 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made American Federation of the Blind, 1401 South Clark Street, Suite 730, Arlington, VA 22202.
