A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
DyAnne was born in Weirsdale, Florida on August 31, 1941 to Lewis and Athalia Hutto Martin. As a child the family moved to Swansea, SC where she attended Swansea High School where she excelled in academics and sports. While attending The University of South Carolina she met her future husband, Joseph Dunham and shortly after they welcomed their daughter, Deirdre “Dee Dee”. In 1978, she met Kemper Wilson, whom she later married.
Throughout her life she was a hard worker but found her niche as the Development Director at University of South Carolina Medical University. She was instrumental in setting up so many outstanding scholarships and endowments raising 22 million during her career. An accomplishment that has not been surpassed. DyAnne would say that the personal relationships she built over the years were what meant so much to her.
DyAnne enjoyed buying and selling antiques and going to as many estate sales as she could. She loved to garden, fish and enjoyed good food and fine wine. She also enjoyed attending Bluegrass festivals. Most importantly, she will be remembered for her sense of humor and adventure. She and Kemper traveled to different islands to scuba dive and different states and countries to sight see and enjoy the culture. DyAnne always looked forward to her families Fourth of July reunion originally started in Swansea and later held in Florida.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her previous husband; Joe Dunham and her sister, Linda Martin Wise. Survivors include her three daughters, Deirdre Yonkers (Mike), Kim Dunham Stewart, Renea Wilson; grandchildren, Chandler Yonkers, Shipley Yonkers, Ally Benton (Dusty), a sister, Alice Laman Koontz, two great-grandchildren and a long list of extended family members and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Office of Gift Processing, 1600 Hampton Street, Suite 736, Columbia, SC 29208 or to Centennial ARP Church, 1413 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
