Born June 23, 1925 in Lamkin, Comanche County, Texas to the late Sterling Cornelius and Ella Neel Glasgow Lynch, she grew up in Comanche County. She graduated from Lamkin High School and attended Brownwood Business College in Brownwood, Texas.
She and a friend Louise Durham answered the call for clerical help in Washington, DC during World War II. After a few months they transferred to the Army Air Corp Command in Ft. Worth, Texas beginning her secretarial career with the USAF.
She loved to travel with her Air Force husband. She saw all the States and Europe when they were stationed in Germany. She even went to the Philippines where her first grandchild was born.
She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and sang in the choir and taught Sunday School in the churches where she was a member.
Rae was a lady of many talents and many interests. She was gifted in acting, singing, dancing, fashion, and modeling. She loved being on stage.
Rae was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe David Miller, Jr. and Retired USAF Lt. Colonel Joe E. Trujillo. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: John Lynch, SC Lynch, Jr., Roshel Lynch, and sisters: Tauline Lynch Moore, Camila Lynch, Genevieve Lynch Tatum, and Ella Bea Lynch Fishback. She is survived by her sister, Martha Jane Lynch Lawson, age 100, of Ft. Worth, Texas. She is also survived by her three children: Ella Ranette Miller Haas (John) of Columbia, SC, Dr. Joe David Miller III (Sally) of Brownwood, Texas, and Martha Kay Miller Smith (Earl) of Colleyville, Texas, and four grandchildren: Paul Conrad Smith (Melissa) of Long Beach, CA, Martha Miller Gaffney Thomas (Craig) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Nancy Wright Gaffney McCurdy (Nick) of Atlanta, GA, and Ginger Rene Smith, also of Atlanta, GA; five great-grandchildren, Conner Paul Smith, Alexander Grayson Smith, May Wright McCurdy, Miller Montague McCurdy, and Martha Westley Thomas.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to caregivers Lanita Long, Eshanti Miller, and Kayla Snead for their loving care and support.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Baggett Cemetery in Comanche County, Texas.
