Dorothy Sox Tillery

Columbia SC – Dorothy Sox Tillery, 84, passed away peacefully in Knoxville, TN Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Born in Darlington, SC, she was a daughter of the late Lemon Hale Self and Marie Floyd Self. She was a graduate of Dentsville High.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sharon Sox Jacobs and son, John Sox Jr. She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren and great grandmother to four great grands. She came from a large, to say loving would be an understatement, family of 13 siblings. Surviving is her older sister, Betty Self Hughes and younger sister, Gertrude Stewart Barton.

Dorothy was woman of faith, grace and humbleness. Best known by friends and family for her kind heart which she extended to any and everyone who knew her. Her kind heart was superseded only by joy she brought into the lives she touched. Dorothy’s wisdom will forever guide the decisions we make through the rest of our lives.
