Dorothy Hicks Dennis

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Dorothy H. Dennis - “Dot”, 98, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Heyward St. United Methodist Church, with burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tues. from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine St. Chapel.

Mrs. Dennis died Friday, July 27, 2018. Born in Sumter, SC, she was the only daughter of Charles W. and Evelyne Wallace Hicks. Dot was a willing volunteer and active member of Heyward St. UMC (formerly Wesley Memorial UMC), teaching Sunday School and assisting in Communion Services, among other activities.

She will be missed, but all are happy that she is now in “that good land” Deu 8:7

Surviving are her son, H. Woodrow Dennis of Columbia; her two grandchildren by her daughter, Eve Keller and Tommy Whittle; and three great-granchildren, Catie, Mira, and Rahly.

In addition to her husband, Henry W. (Woody) Dennis, and her daughter, Claire Whittle, Dot was also predeceased by her six brothers, Reginald, Wallace, Linwood, Lewis, Murray and Mac.
