.Columbia – Deanna Marie Orr, 59, peacefully entered into her eternal heavenly home with her family at her side on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Palmetto Health Richland. Born September 16, 1955, in Wichita Falls, Texas, she was the daughter of Lee Norman Jungclaus (deceased) and Ernestine Monica Stroud. She graduated from Lower Richland High School (1973) and the University of South Carolina (1976) with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She enjoyed a lengthy career as a Teacher and was Nationally Board Certified with her last stint in the single-gender program at Dent Middle School. A member of Shandon Baptist Church, Mrs. Orr was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey B. Orr; sons, Benjamin T. Whitehead (Kelly) and Jordan F. Whitehead; daughter, Julie E. Whitehead; step-daughter, Leslie Erin Orr; brothers, Kenneth L. Jungclaus (Ann), Jonathan L. Jungclaus (Dee); sister, Melinda J. Greene (John). She was pre-deceased by her step-father, Joe Carl Stroud.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in the Chapel at Shandon Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Serenity Gardens. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Palmetto Heart CCU and Palmetto Health Hospice for the loving care and compassion they provided to Mrs. Orr.
