While fighting a brave battle with cancer, Tony was healed and went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2019 in Columbia, SC. Tony was born in Hopewell, Virginia and grew up in Hendersonville, NC. He was the son of David Cleveland and Frances Miller Templeton.
Tony was a graduate of Hendersonville High School, Go Bearcats! He then received his Associates Degree in Nursing from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, and Bachelor of Science degree from Southern New Hampshire University. He was a nurse at Prisma Health Richland Children’s Hospital.
Tony was a kind, patient, and comical person. He had the ability to bring a smile to anyone and was often referred to as a “gentle giant” to all who knew him. He loved his Lord, his family, friends, patients, colleagues, and his Tarheels. He was a bright light to all around him. His son David, was his right-hand man and best friend. He was so proud of his daughter-in-law Rachel and happy to finally have a daughter. His grandchildren were his heart and soul. Most importantly, his wife, whom he referred to as Sweet Sallie, was the love of his life and he will always be her Smoochie.
In addition to his parents, Tony is survived by his wife of thirty years, Sarah Arnette Templeton, his son David-Timothy (Rachel) Templeton of Lexington, SC, three grandchildren, Johnathan, Selah and Natalie-Grace Templeton of Lexington, SC, sister Angela Templeton of Hendersonville, NC, sister-in-law Martha (Barney) Watts of Lizella, GA, brothers-in-law Albert Arnette of Leesville, SC, James Arnette of Lizella, GA, and David (Rachel) Arnette of Greenville, SC, nieces and nephews Al Arnette of Gilbert, SC, Caroline Arnette (TJ) Asbill of Leesville, SC, Luke Hollingsworth of Hendersonville, NC, Kylie Hollingsworth of Hendersonville, NC, Hannah, Joseph, and Joy Arnette of Greenville, SC.
Pallbearers will be Al Arnette, TJ Asbill, Greg Bethune, Kevin Butler, Andy Garner, Joshua Hughes, Randy Hussey, Luke Hollingsworth, and Clark Thomas.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 13 from 12:00 Noon til 1:45 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street. Funeral services will be Friday, September 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel with burial to follow at Woodridge Memorial Park, Corley Mill Road, West Columbia.
And as Tony always said, it’s not goodbye, it’s “See ya later.”
