Graveside services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday November 19, 2022 at Woodridge Memorial Park, Corley Mill Road, Lexington. Visitation will be held Noon until 2:00 pm Saturday November 19, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home- Devine Street Chapel, Columbia.
Mr. Powers was born November 18, 1946 in Waltham, MA to LTC John J. and Margery Powers. David grew up in a military family living in various places including Massachusetts, Alabama and Turkey. He attended Georgia Tech where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and earned his degree from the University of South Carolina. David retired in 2012 after spending his entire career as a Transportation Analyst with Wilbur Smith Associates. David loved living abroad and enjoyed career postings over the years in South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Venezuela. He enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles and playing board games (Yahtzee) with his family.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister, Nancy Powers.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Vanicha Powers; three children, Mandy Cooper (Clark), Jason Powers (Amy), Frederic Powers; four grandchildren, Judson and Elizabeth Cooper, Hailey and John Powers; siblings, Jaqueline Stone (Fred), Edward Powers, Dr. Kim Powers and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
