COLUMBIA – Daniel Clarendon Stone, 54, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel is assisting the family. Born in Hemingway, he was the son of Ann Wilder Stone and the late L.C. Stone, Jr. Daniel had a zest for life and his greatest joy and love was his wife, Tammy and son Adams. Daniel graduated from Hemingway High School, where he won the Clemson Math Award. He then attended the University of South Carolina, majoring in Computer Science, was a Resident Hall Advisor, a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and a member of the Gamecock Club. He was the President, several times of the Cayce-West Columbia Jaycees, was a State Program Manager, and helped develop the Cayce-West Columbia Jaycees Hall of Horrors that the proceeds benefit the South Carolina Jaycee Camp Hope and has been going strong since inception. He was a Colonel in the South Carolina Palmetto Corps. He enjoyed being the coach for his son’s many sports teams. He was a lifelong member of Midway Baptist Church in Hemingway. He was currently employed with Wells Fargo as a Systems Engineer V. In addition to his wife, son and mother surviving are his sister, Lynn Stone Smith; nephew, Tristan Stone Smith and nieces, Payton and Lauren Smith and mother and father in-law; Earl and Joan Adams and sister-in-law, Melissa Adams, all of Columbia and many special aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his father, his sister, Leslie Ann Stone, predeceased him.
