COLUMBIA – Celebration of Life for Frank Hart will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St.Andrews Chapel, with interment to follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Frank Hart was born in Bristol, TN on February 11, 1927 to father; Clinton F. Hart, Sr., mother; Annie Jones Hart. Frank Hart joined USMC at age 17, serving in the Pacific with the 5th Marine Division and later in the 1st Division in Korea. He participated in the operation against enemy forces in South and Central Korea. He retired as procurement officer from University of South Carolina (34 years). After more than 7 years of severe illness, he went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 16, 2014.
Frank Hart had a special love for his wife and family and enjoyed traveling with both. He adored his wife of more than 30 years. His special hobbies were biking with the Carolina Cyclers, hiking, gardening and most of all camping. Frank and Margaret had annual camping trips to the beach for Valentine’s (at Edisto Island) and the mountains for Halloween.
Frank Hart is survived by wife, Margaret A. Hart; a brother, Don Hart (Anita) of Seneca, SC; son, David Hart (Tracy) of Dolphin Island, AL; daughter, Elizabeth Elkins (Sam) of Maryville, TN; step-daughter, Debi V. Sox of Columbia, SC; 10 grandchildren; Jaymee and Mallory Sox, Joshua and Caleb Elkins, Arian Wood, Christian, Zicky, Matthew, Mary T. and Seth Hart. He was also blessed with many special nieces, nephews and close friends that were like family.
If inclined to donate, the family requests gifts be made to the Tucker Nursing Facility, 2200 Harden St., Columbia, SC 29212, so that other veterans might benefit from their services.
