COLUMBIA - A funeral service for CSM Clarence Edward Jeffers, U.S. Army (Ret.), 96, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 21 2017 at Temple Baptist Church, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. CSM Jeffers died Friday, June 30, 2017. Born in Oneida, Tenn., he was a son of the late Eddie Jeffers and Delphia Mae Botts Jeffers. He was married for 54 years to his wife, Miriam Brown Jeffers. A retired Command Sgt. Major in the U.S. Army, he was Budget Accountant for Civil Service at Fort Jackson. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Surviving are his son, Charles E. Guy (Carol) of Bonifay, Fla.; daughters, Delores J. Reeves (Gary) of Lexington and Linda McNeill (Rev. Wayne) of Ridgeville, S.C.; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Curtis Jeffers (Jeri), Eugene Jeffers (Peggy), Kermit Jeffers (Donna); and sister, Rema Dabney (O.L.). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Ralph Jeffers and Clifton Jeffers; and sisters, Reba Duncan and Christine Dabney.
