Born in Columbia on November 4, 1941 to the late Eddie Finlay and Claudia Knowlton Finlay, Mrs. Meyer passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2018.
Caroline was active in too many volunteer activities and community charities to even count. She was also well known for her incredible calligraphy and ongoing support of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, the Columbia City Ballet, and The Garden Club with her husband, Swing.
Caroline was the driving force behind hosting an almost un-ending parade of foreign-exchange students, ballet dancers, foreign missionaries, and others needing a place to stay in Columbia. Later in life, she moonlighted as Kirky the Clown, painting the faces of children at countless events to share love that way. Those who knew Caroline knew that what she gave to others cannot be recounted in words.
Surviving are her sons, Austin and Edward, and grandchild, Ava Lane Meyer. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David Swing Meyer; son, Kirk Meyer; and brother, Reed Finlay.
Memorials to the Humane Society, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209, would be appreciated.
