A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel. Interment and military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021, in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
A Charleston native, he was born June 19, 1957, to the late Dorothy Driggers Coker and Ray Charles Coker.
Bruce served in the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune.
Bruce worked in construction most of his life as a superintendent building homes for various companies and doing commercial construction, including the BMW extension in Greer.
Bruce was an avid sportsman and he loved the outdoors. A day outside in a deer stand or on the lake fishing was his favorite thing. He enjoyed the time spent with his buddies and had many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Kennedy; a daughter, Rebecca Barrineau (Robbie); granddaughter, Lauryn Barrineau; his brothers, Sammy Coker, Tony (Christine) Coker and Denny Coker; brother-in-law, Paul Kennedy (Olivia); sister-in-law, Laurie Kennedy Coates (Rick); and nieces, Ashton Coker, Nicole Baker, Katie Kartanos and Erin Coates; nephews, Phillip Coker, Austin Kennedy and Brian Coates.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
