Mr. Jacobs served honorably as a Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force and South Carolina Army National Guard for over 20 years. He was also employed with the South Carolina Department of Education as Director of the Information Technology Department for 36 years.
Mr. Jacobs was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Summit Ward.
He was an avid Gamecock fan. He enjoyed traveling, and had taken 35 cruises, and traveled to multiple countries.
Surviving are; sons, Beverly Thomas “Jake” Jacobs, Jr. (Tonia) of Columbia SC, Kenneth Lloyd Jacobs (Sheila) of Candler, NC; sister, Katherine Lee Williams of Greenville, SC; brother, Vernon C. Jacobs (Barbara Ann); uncle, Owens Wilson; sister-in-law, Judy C. Levine; grandchildren, Ashley Bond, Christina Jacobs, Rachel Campana, Courtney Cooper Jacobs, Beverly Thomas Jacobs III, Oren Bruton, Danielle D. Jacobs, Nichole N. Jacobs, Kaitlin C. Jacobs, Kaylee E. Jacobs, Kenlee F. Jacobs; 13 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Mr. Jacobs is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Cooper Jacobs.
Beverly was a beloved husband, father, and brother, brother in law, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was all of these and much more to many. He was known for his decency, integrity, kindness, fairness and honesty, as well as his abiding faith. Beverly relished travel, vacations, and family gatherings with his family. His love of sports “Go Gamecocks” with his brother, as well as sharing travel with his sister.
A funeral service for Beverly Thomas “Jake” Jacobs, Sr. will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Summit Ward, with burial following the service, at 1:00 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
