Beth Cartledge Leaptrott, widow of John T. “Jack” Leaptrott, Jr., passed away at home on Tuesday, May 9th at the age of 92. A memorial service for Beth will be held on Friday, May 12th at 2:00 p.m. at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, with visitation in the church parlor from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. Beth was born in Batesburg on October 4th, 1930, to the late Fred and Julia Elizabeth Cartledge and married the love of her life, Jack, in 1950. She was retired from the federal government and was a devoted member of Trenholm Road UMC as well as the Frances Foster Circle. Known for her outgoing and joyful personality, humor, and love of people and family, she loved reading and dancing and her dogs and cats over the years. She was also a great advice giver and everyone always felt the wisdom in her words.
Surviving are her daughter, Julie Ruff (David), son, John Thomas “Tommy” Leaptrott, III, grandson Joshua Leaptrott, granddaughter Chelsea Leaptrott, great-grandson King Batts, and a number of nieces and nephews. Also, surviving are her granddogs, Coleman and Mabel Ruff. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by Jack’s parents, her sisters Patricia Goodwin, and Doris Cobb, and brother Fred Cartledge.
