COLUMBIA - Barbara Lemmond Graham, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017, at her residence at the Still Hopes Retirement Community at the age of 98. A lifetime resident of Columbia, she graduated from Columbia High School and Mary Baldwin College. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, David M. Graham, in 1990 after 50 years of marriage. They were founding members with five other couples of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, which continued to be a most important aspect of her life. Together, they were also instrumental in the development of the Millpond and Quinine Hill communities of Forest Acres. People were one of Barbara’s passions and she never met a stranger. Her generosity and caring nature was evident to her many friends as was her love of gardening and animals. Some of her fondest memories are of her two sons on the beach outside their home at Isle of Palms, SC. Barbara is survived by those two sons, David M. Graham, Jr. of Miami, FL and Burke L. Graham and his wife Maria of Charlottesville, VA. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, 3401 Trenholm Rd., Columbia, SC. Immediately following the service, the family will host a visitation reception at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community, One Still Hopes Drive, West Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, the Animal Protection League of S.C. or a charity of one’s choice. Barbara was blessed by the people that were woven into the fabric of her life and she enjoyed her apartment at Still Hopes with her many new found friends that became like family to her.
