Annie Laura Carnes Briggs

RIDGEWAY – Annie Laura Carnes Briggs, 81, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lancaster, 400 S. Market Street, Lancaster, SC 29720 with Rev. Randy Hatcher officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel is assisting the family. Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Lottie Lula Killough Carnes and John Howard Carnes. She was a graduate of Latta High School and attended the University of South Carolina. Laura had such a love for reading, gardening, dancing and playing bridge. She was a member of the Lancaster Flower Club, American Legion, Library Board, Bridge Club and First Baptist Church of Lancaster. She is survived by her husband; Ronnie W. Briggs of Columbia; daughter, Deborah Benton of Charleston; brothers, Charles (Donna) Carnes of Westville and Tony Carnes of Lancaster; sister, Rosalind (Wesley) Grier of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.
